Bakhita Arts supports emerging and underexposed artists while enriching the community through all avenues of creativity.
About
Bakhita Arts is a grassroots community arts center at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rock Hill, SC named after St. Josephine Bakhita. It was established by a group of volunteers in 2022. Programming includes but is not limited to artist talks, performances, art exhibitions, poetry readings and workshops.
St. Josephine Bakhita
St. Josephine Bakhita was a heroic saint who endured the horrors of slavery with bravery before she escaped into freedom through the group of religious sisters she joined. She is the patron saint of Sudan and of victims of human trafficking.
